An unknown wallet has accumulated $ 3 billion and became the third largest holder of bitcoin. In three months, the wallet has accumulated 118 thousand bitcoins worth $3.08 billion

An unknown bitcoin wallet has become the world's third-largest bitcoin (BTC) holder in just three months, according to BitInfoCharts data .

For the first time, bitcoins were transferred to a wallet address on March 8, 2023, when 0.25 BTC was bought. In May, 64.1 thousand BTC accumulated in the wallet, in June - another 54.2 thousand BTC. There were also small purchases in July. In total, the wallet has accumulated 118 thousand bitcoins with a total value of $3.08 billion at the current BTC rate of $26 thousand, according to Coingecko . As of press time, the loss on his investment is $91.4 million.
According to one version of X users (formerly Twitter, the social network is blocked in Russia), the funds collected in the wallet are funds from one of the crypto exchanges. One user suggested that it could be BlackRock — a large purchase of 3.4 thousand bitcoins occurred exactly a month before the company announced Bitcoin-ETF.
At the moment, the largest bitcoin wallets in the world are owned by the Binance and Bitfinex crypto exchanges, according to BitInfoCharts.
In August, Glassnode analysts estimated that about 90% of short-term Bitcoin holders were at a loss. The most likely scenario for further developments is continued sales by short-term holders of bitcoin, whose reserves currently total 2.26 million BTC, experts say.
